About us
Doug & Sue Pearse have spent 15 years in the hospitality
business. Prior to entering the trade we had a strong desire to own
our own accommodation business and after spending many years holidaying
in Scotland we decided that the ideal place would be on the West Coast.
We went to night school in Loughborough and between us gained a City
and Guilds Qualification in Guest House and Small Establishment Management
. At the same time we also gained the relevant Hygiene Certificates.
We were then extremely fortunate to be offered some hands on experience
in a local hotel as Managers. We accepted this position, took the plunge
and gave up our day jobs which we had held for a number of years.18
months later with experience under our belts we decided it was time
to do our own thing and we headed North and over the border.
In 1995 we bought Mansefield House close to Fort William. The property
required complete interior and exterior renovation which we did and
achieved a four diamond rating from the AA for our efforts, after having
started out at two diamonds.
During our seven years in Scotland we acquired six grandchildren and
there was a strong desire to be nearer to them to watch them grow up.
In addition the property market was moving faster in Nottingham than
in Scotland. And so, with at the time somewhat mixed feelings (there
are after all no mountains in Nottingham) we decided that the best
thing to do was to return south and in January 2003 we bought Greenwood
Lodge.
